Defiant Cuban Leader Refuses Trump's Pressure to Resign

Despite mounting US pressure and tightening oil sanctions, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel vows to resist Trump's demands to step down.
In the face of escalating threats and sanctions from the Trump administration, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel has defiantly vowed to resist US pressure and remain in power. The island nation has long been a thorn in the side of successive American governments, and the current White House has taken a particularly hardline stance, tightening an existing oil blockade and ramping up rhetoric demanding Diaz-Canel's resignation.
However, the Cuban leader has shown no signs of backing down, instead rallying his people to stand firm against what he has called "imperialist aggression." In a televised address, Diaz-Canel declared, "We will not surrender, we will not give in to blackmail. Cuba will continue on its path, and the Cuban people will decide their own future."
