A powerful winter storm, named Storm Dave, has wreaked havoc across Wales and Northern Ireland, leaving thousands of homes without power and disrupting road and rail travel across the United Kingdom. The storm brought strong winds and heavy snow, with gusts reaching up to 93mph in Capel Curig, north Wales - 20mph higher than initially forecast.
The Met Office issued a yellow severe weather warning for heavy snow and blizzards across the Scottish Highlands, Argyll, and the Western Isles on Saturday, as the storm system moved in from the Atlantic. Residents in the affected areas were advised to brace for treacherous conditions and potential power outages.
