Urgent Call for Better Placenta Accreta Diagnosis: Former Health Secretary Leads Campaign

Jeremy Hunt, ex-Health Secretary, urges doctors to improve detection of rare but life-threatening placenta accreta spectrum disorder to save mothers' lives.
Jeremy Hunt, the former UK Health Secretary, is urging leading doctors to do more to help maternity specialists detect a rare but potentially fatal childbirth complication - placenta accreta spectrum (PAS). This life-threatening condition can cause women to bleed to death within minutes if not properly identified and managed.
Hunt has thrown his weight behind a new campaign, aimed at improving the NHS's identification of PAS. The campaign was set up by Amisha Adhia and her husband, Nik, after five hospitals failed to spot that Amisha had PAS during her pregnancy.
