According to a cable obtained by The Guardian, the US State Department, led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, has directed every American embassy and consulate worldwide to launch coordinated efforts to push back against what it describes as rampant foreign attempts to undermine American interests abroad.

The cable, signed by Rubio on Monday, suggests that embassy and consulate staff should work alongside the US military's psychological operations unit to address the growing problem of coordinated disinformation efforts. It lays out a sweeping set of instructions for how diplomatic personnel should utilize Musk's X platform as a key component of these campaigns.
