Families Search for Loved Ones on Eid After Tragic Kabul Hospital Strike

Hundreds killed in Pakistan airstrike on Kabul drug rehab center, as families desperately search for victims on Muslim festival Eid
As the Muslim world celebrated Eid, the festival marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan, the families of victims in Kabul were left to grieve the tragic aftermath of a devastating airstrike carried out by Pakistan. At least 400 people were killed when Pakistan's bombardment campaign against what it claims were terrorist and military targets in neighboring Afghanistan went catastrophically wrong, striking a rehabilitation center for drug addicts instead.
Sohrab Faqiri spent the Eid holiday searching for the grave of his brother, one of the many innocent lives lost in the attack. The United Nations has provided a preliminary death toll of 143 people, while the Taliban administration puts the figure at more than 400 dead. Witnesses have described the horrific scenes, with bodies strewn across the site and families desperately searching for their loved ones among the unmarked mass graves.
This tragedy has cast a dark shadow over the joyous Eid celebrations, as the families of the victims grapple with the devastating loss. Pakistan's airstrike, intended to target terrorist and military infrastructure, has instead claimed the lives of countless civilians seeking treatment and recovery at the drug rehabilitation center.
