UK-Portugal Collaboration Revolutionizes Robotic Marine Research

A groundbreaking partnership between the UK's National Oceanography Centre and Portugal's ARDITI is accelerating marine research through the transfer of cutting-edge autonomous underwater vehicles.
In a significant move towards advancing marine research, the National Oceanography Centre (NOC) in the UK has established a strategic partnership with the Madeira Regional Agency for the Development of Research, Technology and Innovation (ARDITI) in Portugal. This collaboration has paved the way for the transfer of two UK-designed autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) to ARDITI, bolstering the country's capabilities in robotic ocean exploration.
The AUVs, which are state-of-the-art in their design and functionality, will play a crucial role in enabling new marine research and monitoring initiatives in Portuguese waters. These cutting-edge vehicles are capable of autonomously navigating the ocean depths, gathering valuable data and insights that were previously inaccessible or difficult to obtain.
