17-Year-Old Fanfiction Site AO3 Officially Exits Beta

The beloved fanfiction platform Archive of Our Own (AO3) has finally shed its 'beta' label after nearly two decades of growth and development.
Archive of Our Own (AO3), the renowned online platform for fan-created fiction, has officially exited its long-standing beta phase, the Organization for Transformative Works (OTW) announced on Thursday. This milestone comes a remarkable 17 years after the site's initial launch in 2009.
In its announcement, the OTW highlighted the significant evolution of AO3 over the years, noting the introduction of numerous features that have enhanced the user experience for the site's vibrant community of writers and readers. These include a robust tagging system, the ability to download fanworks, and privacy settings that allow users to control the visibility of their contributions.
