ABC Staff Strike: BBC Content Replaces Flagship Shows

ABC journalists to walk off the job for 24 hours, protesting low pay, work conditions, and potential AI replacement. BBC World Service to fill in for 7.30 and AM programs.
The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) is facing a major disruption as its staff members prepare to walk off the job for 24 hours, the first such strike in 20 years. The flagship news programs, including the popular 7.30 and AM shows, will be replaced by content from the BBC World Service during the protest.
The strike action is a response to what the ABC journalists say is a low pay offer from the broadcaster's managing director, Hugh Marks, as well as concerns over work conditions and the ABC's refusal to rule out replacing journalists with AI bots.
