Abidjan, the vibrant economic capital of Côte d'Ivoire, is rapidly emerging as a leading cultural hub in West Africa. The city's thriving art scene is taking center stage, as evidenced by the recent Abidjan Art Week, a celebration of the city's artistic talents and burgeoning creative industries.
During the third edition of Abidjan Art Week, which ran from last Tuesday to Sunday, the city came alive with a series of captivating events. Late-night gallery tours and the opening of new venues were the highlights, signaling Abidjan's growing ambition to establish itself as a regional arts capital.
The Night of the Galleries, a special showcase first introduced in January 2024 during the Africa Cup of Nations football tournament, has become a much-anticipated tradition. Art enthusiasts from across the city flocked to more than a dozen galleries and museums, which kept their doors open until midnight, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the vibrant art scene long after the workday had ended.
