Over 1,100 Afghans evacuated by the US are now in limbo at a camp in Qatar, accusing the US government of betrayal as their path to promised resettlement appears to be closed.
In the heart of Qatar, a sprawling camp houses more than 1,100 Afghan evacuees who were promised a new life in the United States, but now find themselves in a state of limbo, their dreams of resettlement seemingly fading with each passing day.
These individuals, many of whom served alongside American forces or worked for the US government in Afghanistan, were evacuated during the chaotic withdrawal from Kabul in August 2021. They were led to believe that their journey to the US was all but assured, but the reality they now face is vastly different.
