Air Canada Suspends NYC Flights as Fuel Prices Soar

Air Canada halts service to New York's JFK Airport due to skyrocketing aviation fuel costs amid the US-Israel conflict with Iran.
Air Canada, one of the largest airlines in North America, has announced the temporary suspension of flights from Toronto and Montreal to New York City's John F. Kennedy (JFK) airport, citing the sharp rise in aviation fuel prices.
The decision comes amid growing concerns that airlines worldwide may be forced to scale back services as the cost of jet fuel continues to climb in the wake of the ongoing US-Israel conflict with Iran. The conflict, which entered a fragile ceasefire earlier in April, has disrupted global oil supplies and put significant upward pressure on fuel prices for the aviation industry.
Although Iran announced on Friday that the Strait of Hormuz had reopened to commercial vessels, helping to ease oil prices somewhat, fuel costs remain significantly elevated after weeks of supply chain disruptions and geopolitical tensions.
