Air Travel Disrupted: EasyJet Bookings Plunge, Fares Set to Rise

EasyJet CEO warns of air fare hikes as war in Middle East impacts flight bookings and soaring fuel prices, despite airline's hedging strategy.
EasyJet, the prominent European low-cost carrier, has reported a decline in bookings due to the ongoing war in the Middle East, as the airline's chief executive warns of impending air fare rises by the end of the summer.
Despite the airline's hedging strategy, which has allowed it to avoid the brunt of soaring kerosene prices, Kenton Jarvis, the EasyJet CEO, acknowledged that some of the costs would inevitably be passed on to passengers in the form of higher fares.
Jarvis explained that while EasyJet has hedged much of its fuel into next year, the war in the Middle East has already started to impact flight bookings, signaling that the airline industry is not immune to the ripple effects of geopolitical tensions.
