Allies Must Step Up to Protect Crucial Strait of Hormuz

As tensions rise in the Gulf, Trump calls on allies who depend on Gulf oil to help secure the Strait of Hormuz and maintain global energy stability.
With rising tensions in the Middle East following a series of attacks on oil tankers in the Gulf, US President Donald Trump has issued a clear call to action for America's allies. The President asserted that countries who rely on oil shipments passing through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz must step up and help keep the crucial waterway open and secure.
The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow, 21-mile-wide shipping chokepoint located between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. It is the conduit for nearly a third of the world's seaborne oil shipments, making it one of the most important strategic locations for global energy supplies. Any disruption to traffic through the strait would have severe economic and geopolitical ramifications around the world.
