Amazon Cuts Off Older Kindles From the Kindle Store

Amazon is ending Kindle Store access for e-readers released in 2012 or earlier, including classic models with physical keyboards and buttons. Read how this impacts users of older Kindles.
Amazon is making a significant change that will impact owners of older Kindle e-readers. Starting on May 20th, any Kindle device introduced and sold in 2012 or earlier will no longer be able to purchase or download new books from the Kindle Store.
This change affects a wide range of classic Kindle models, including the original Kindle from 2007, the Kindle DX, Kindle Keyboard, and the first-generation Kindle Paperwhite. Even some older Kindle Fire tablets from 2011 and 2012 will lose access to the Kindle Store.
While users of these affected devices will still be able to read books they've already downloaded, they won't be able to purchase or download any new content. And if they reset their Kindles to factory defaults, they won't be able to sign back into their Amazon accounts.
