Artemis II Breaks Record for Farthest Human Spaceflight

NASA's Orion spacecraft reaches a milestone, surpassing the distance record set by Apollo 13 over 50 years ago. Explore the historic achievements of the Artemis II mission.
NASA's Artemis II mission has officially broken the record for the farthest distance from Earth ever traveled by humans, a remarkable feat achieved 56 years after the iconic Apollo 13 mission. The Orion spacecraft, the centerpiece of the Artemis program, has been meticulously navigating its way through the cosmos, pushing the boundaries of human space exploration.
The previous record was set by Apollo 13 in 1970, when the crew traveled to a maximum distance of 248,655 miles (400,171 km) from Earth. Artemis II has now surpassed that milestone, reaching a distance of 271,000 miles (436,000 km) from our planet, cementing its place in history as the new record holder for the farthest human spaceflight.
