Bard President's Ties to Epstein Under Scrutiny: Victim Speaks Out

A victim of Jeffrey Epstein claims Bard College president Leon Botstein helped legitimize the sex offender through their frequent interactions and Botstein's 'sophisticated intellectual' reputation.
Bard College president Leon Botstein's communications and relationship with notorious sex offender Jeffrey Epstein are now under review by the WilmerHale law firm, while Botstein himself maintains he never witnessed anything inappropriate. However, a victim of Epstein's has come forward, alleging that Botstein's proximity to the disgraced financier helped to rehabilitate Epstein's reputation.
Svetlana Pozhidaeva, a former Russian model who worked as a 'staffer' for Epstein, told The Guardian in an interview that she saw Botstein with Epstein 'quite frequently' - including a trip to Epstein's private island in December 2012. Pozhidaeva believes that Botstein's reputation as a 'sophisticated intellectual' helped to legitimize Epstein in the eyes of the public.
