In a bold move to enforce Western sanctions against Russia, Belgian special forces, assisted by French helicopters, have seized an oil tanker believed to be part of the so-called Russian 'shadow fleet' in the North Sea. The operation took place on Saturday night, with the vessel, the Ethera, sailing under the flag of Guinea, according to Belgium's Defense Minister, Theo Francken.
The shadow fleet refers to a network of ships and tankers that Russia has allegedly used to circumvent the sanctions imposed by the West in response to the country's invasion of Ukraine.
