Breakthrough in 20-Year-Old Jam Master Jay Murder Case

One of the accused killers of Run-DMC's Jam Master Jay plans to plead guilty, marking a significant development in the long-unsolved case.
Jam Master Jay, the influential DJ and founding member of legendary hip-hop group Run-DMC, was tragically killed in his recording studio in 2002. After two decades of investigations and a previous overturned conviction, a breakthrough has emerged in the case.
Court records show that Jay Bryant, one of the three men charged in Jam Master Jay's murder, is now negotiating a plea deal with federal prosecutors. This would mark the first time anyone has admitted to any role in the killing of the Run-DMC star.
Bryant had previously pleaded not guilty after his 2023 indictment, but his lawyer and federal prosecutors have informed the court that they are working towards a plea agreement. This development represents a significant shift in the long-running case, which has remained unsolved for over 20 years.
Jam Master Jay, born Jason Mizell, was shot and killed in his recording studio in Jamaica, Queens on October 30, 2002. The murder was a devastating blow to the hip-hop community, as Jam Master Jay was widely respected for his pioneering turntable skills and his integral role in the success of Run-DMC.
