A widespread area of low pressure has been wreaking havoc across Europe this week, bringing unsettled and chilly conditions to many regions. This weather system, which originated in the UK earlier in the week, has now moved southward, leading to a cold front that has triggered rain, hill snow, and heavy snowfall across western and central parts of the continent.
In the Swiss Alps, accumulations of 20-40cm are expected above 600 meters, with 60-100cm of snow forecast above 1,000 meters. This wintry weather has resulted in numerous weather warnings being issued across southern Europe, as the low-pressure system continues to bring unsettled and potentially hazardous conditions to the region.
