Hundreds of Congolese refugees have returned home from Burundi as the border closed by M23 fighting has reopened, after over 90,000 fled across the border nearly 3 months ago when the M23 rebel group stormed in and took control of Uvira in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
The reopening of the border between the DRC and Burundi comes as a relief to those who were displaced by the clashes, allowing them to return to their homes and communities. The M23 rebellion had forced thousands to flee across the border into Burundi, where they have been living in temporary shelters and camps.
