A coronial inquest into the fatal police shooting of Sydney man Steve Pampalian has heard conflicting accounts from the officer involved, who claimed he didn't have enough time to turn on his body-worn camera before firing three shots that killed Pampalian.
The 41-year-old Pampalian was shot on May 25, 2023 in the driveway of his home in the quiet suburb of North Willoughby, after he had a psychotic episode and charged at police while holding two kitchen knives.
