The Cuban government has firmly rejected any suggestion of removing President Miguel Diaz-Canel from power, even as it remains open to potential trade talks with the United States. Carlos Fernandez de Cossio, Cuba's Deputy Foreign Minister, categorically stated that the country's leadership is a non-negotiable matter and will not be up for discussion in any future negotiations with the US.
In an interview, Fernandez de Cossio emphasized that Cuba is willing to engage in constructive dialogue with the US, but made it clear that the country's political system and leadership are off the table. He said,
