Cybercriminal Hacked Supreme Court, Gets Probation Sentence

Nicholas Moore, a self-proclaimed hacker, has been sentenced to probation for breaching three U.S. government networks, including the network of the Supreme Court. Moore, who operated under the Instagram handle @ihackedthegovernment, used stolen login credentials to gain unauthorized access to these systems and then shared the personal information of his victims on social media.

The Department of Justice reported that Moore hacked into the networks of the Supreme Court, the Executive Office of the President, and the Department of Health and Human Services. He obtained login credentials through various means, including phishing attacks and other social engineering tactics, and then leveraged these credentials to infiltrate the targeted government systems.

After gaining access to these networks, Moore boasted about his exploits on Instagram, posting screenshots and personal details of his victims. This brazen behavior only served to draw the attention of law enforcement, who quickly launched an investigation into his activities.

In a surprising turn of events, Moore was not sentenced to prison for his crimes. Instead, he received a sentence of three years of probation, a $10,000 fine, and was ordered to pay restitution to his victims. The lenient sentence was likely a result of Moore's cooperation with authorities and his willingness to take responsibility for his actions.
