Data Security Alert: Companies House Vulnerability Puts Businesses at Risk

Companies across the UK are being urged to carefully review their details on the Companies House registry after a significant data security vulnerability was discovered. The glitch, which has since been resolved, allowed logged-in users to view and edit other companies' information without their knowledge or consent.

The issue was first reported by the BBC, with Companies House, the government agency responsible for the UK's business register, confirming the incident. According to the report, the vulnerability was present for an unknown period of time, potentially exposing sensitive company data to unauthorized access and tampering.

"We take the security and integrity of the register extremely seriously," a Companies House spokesperson said in a statement. "As soon as we became aware of this issue, we took steps to resolve it. We are confident that the register remains secure, but we would encourage all companies to review their details to ensure they are up to date and accurate."
