Democrats Move to Impeach AG Bondi Over 'Fake' Epstein Briefing

Outraged lawmakers walk out of Bondi's Epstein briefing after she refuses to testify under oath. Now they seek to impeach the Florida attorney general.
Furious Democratic lawmakers have moved to impeach attorney general Pam Bondi after walking out of a closed-door briefing about the Jeffrey Epstein files on Wednesday. Bondi refused to commit to testifying under oath despite being subpoenaed, prompting the lawmakers' outrage.
"We asked her multiple times, are you going to come and speak with us under oath? She would not say yes. Filibuster, filibuster, filibuster, would not say yes," one frustrated Democratic senator said.
The Democrats on the Senate intelligence committee also pressed Tulsi Gabbard, the director of national intelligence, to explain why her deputy, Joe Kent, said in his resignation letter on Tuesday that "Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation", which contradicts weeks of statements to the contrary by the Trump administration.
Bondi's closed-door briefing on the Epstein files has been described as a "sham" by frustrated lawmakers, who said the attorney general simply refused to provide any meaningful information or commit to testifying under oath.
"She did not give us any facts, she did not give us any information. All she did was filibuster and try to throw us off the trail," the senator added. "We're not going to stand for that."
The move to impeach Bondi is the latest escalation in the ongoing battle between Democrats and the Trump administration over transparency and accountability. Bondi's handling of the Epstein case has come under intense scrutiny, with many questioning whether she protected the well-connected financier from proper prosecution.
In a statement, Bondi defended her actions, saying she was limited in what she could discuss due to ongoing investigations. However, Democrats argue that her refusal to testify under oath raises serious concerns about a possible cover-up.
"This is not about politics, this is about getting to the truth and holding those responsible accountable," the senator said. "We will not rest until we get the answers the American people deserve."
The impeachment proceedings are likely to be a drawn-out and contentious process, but Democrats appear determined to pursue it in the face of what they view as stonewalling by the Trump administration. With the 2020 election looming, the Epstein scandal could become a major political flashpoint in the coming months.
