Designer Dogs Disappoint? Study Finds Crossbreeds Have More Issues

New research suggests popular designer crossbreed dogs like cockapoos and labradoodles may display more behavioral problems than their pure-bred counterparts.
The UK's love affair with designer crossbreed dogs like cockapoos, cavapoos, and labradoodles may come with a hidden price - according to new research, these mixed-breed dogs often display more undesirable behaviors than the pure breeds from which they derive.
The study, which examined the behavioral traits of over 2,000 dogs, found that these increasingly popular crossbred pooches tended to show higher levels of issues like aggression, fearfulness, and hyperactivity compared to their purebred parents. While many owners are drawn to the expectation that crossbreeds will be hypoallergenic, healthy, and good with children, the data suggests the reality may not always live up to the hype.
