Over the past weekend, torrential rains pounded the already saturated soil, leading to catastrophic flooding that has forced thousands of residents on the North Shore of Oahu and parts of Maui to evacuate their homes.
The deluge of rainfall, which follows a powerful winter storm that hit the region a week ago, has had a devastating impact on the islands. Floodwaters have lifted houses and cars, swept through grocery stores, and left a layer of thick mud covering the streets, causing widespread destruction and disruption to the local communities.
Authorities have been working around the clock to assess the full extent of the damage and assist those affected by the floods.
