Disgraced Actor John Alford, 54, Passes Away in Prison

London's Burning star John Alford, jailed for sexually assaulting two teenage girls, has died in custody just two months into his 8.5-year sentence.
London's Burning actor John Alford, 54, has passed away in prison just two months after being sentenced to 8.5 years for the sexual assault of two teenage girls. The once-popular TV star, whose real name was John Shannon, died at HMP Bure in Norfolk on March 13th, 2026.
Alford was convicted earlier this year of four counts of sexual activity with a 14-year-old girl and charges of sexual assault and assault by penetration relating to a 15-year-old victim. The crimes occurred during a party at a friend's home, where the court heard the girls were sexually assaulted by Alford while they were drunk after a night out at the pub.
The former Grange Hill actor was sentenced to 8.5 years in prison for his disturbing crimes. Just two months into his sentence, the Prison Service has confirmed that Alford died in custody, stating that
