A former Metropolitan Police officer has been handed a 24-year prison sentence for the horrific crimes of grooming and sexually assaulting a young girl and a woman. The officer, who now identifies as Gwyn Samuels but previously went by the name James Bubb, systematically befriended both victims online before carrying out the vile attacks.
Samuels first sexually assaulted the young girl, who was just 12 years old at the time, in 2018 after meeting her online. The Aylesbury Crown Court trial last year heard harrowing details of how the former police officer groomed and abused the vulnerable child.
In a separate incident, Samuels also raped an adult woman after engaging in a similar pattern of online grooming. The horrifying crimes have sparked widespread outrage and condemnation from the public and law enforcement community.
