Escalating Clashes on Afghanistan-Pakistan Border Displace Thousands

The UN warns that fierce fighting on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border has led to the displacement of nearly 66,000 Afghans, raising concerns about the impact on civilians.
The United Nations migration agency has raised the alarm over the escalating violence on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, which has led to the displacement of nearly 66,000 Afghans in recent weeks. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) warned that the ongoing clashes between Afghan forces and the Taliban pose a significant risk to civilian lives and could lead to further displacement if the situation continues to deteriorate.
According to the IOM, the fighting has been concentrated in the Spin Boldak-Chaman border crossing, a crucial trade route between the two countries. The agency reported that the majority of those displaced are women and children, who are seeking refuge in neighboring districts within Afghanistan.
