EU Pushes for Urgent Reboot of UK Talks to Salvage Reset Deal

Time is running out to find agreement on key issues like tuition fees and food safety rules as EU-UK negotiations risk failing before crucial summit.
The European Union is urgently seeking to reboot talks on resetting relations with the United Kingdom, as the critical negotiations risk collapsing before a planned July summit. EU officials warn that both sides must change gears now to ensure the reset deal gets over the finish line.
At a public meeting of the EU-UK parliamentary partnership assembly in Brussels, Maroš Šefčovič, the European Commission vice-president and trade commissioner, emphasized the need for urgent action. Key areas of disagreement, such as the tuition fees EU citizens would pay in Britain and the rules for food safety, must be resolved before the high-level summit.
