Evercade Unveils Nexus: Bigger Screen, Dual Thumbsticks for 3D Gaming

Evercade's new Nexus handheld console boasts a larger 5.89-inch screen, improved resolution, and dual thumbsticks for enhanced 3D gaming experience. Preorders open April 1st for $199.99.
Evercade, the retro gaming handheld company, has announced the launch of its latest device - the Nexus. This new portable console features a significantly larger 5.89-inch screen, a bump in resolution to 840x512 pixels, and a switch to a 16:9 aspect ratio, marking a notable upgrade from the previous 4.3-inch, 800x480 display on the EXP-R model.
One of the key improvements on the Nexus is the addition of dual thumbsticks, a feature that will enable users to enjoy a more immersive 3D gaming experience. This is a significant departure from the company's previous handhelds, which were primarily focused on 2D retro titles.

The Nexus will be available for preorder starting on April 1st, 2026, with a retail price of $199.99. Customers can expect to receive their units in October of the same year. As with previous Evercade handhelds, the Nexus will not have an app store or support for ROMs, maintaining the company's focus on curated retro gaming experiences.

The announcement of the Nexus comes on the heels of Evercade's Super Pocket lineup, which introduced smaller and more compact versions of the company's retro gaming handhelds. The Nexus, however, represents a shift towards a larger and more feature-rich device, catering to gamers who desire a more immersive portable gaming experience.
As the Nexus prepares for its October 2026 launch, Evercade enthusiasts and retro gaming enthusiasts alike will be eagerly awaiting the opportunity to get their hands on this latest addition to the company's growing lineup of handhelds.
