Fly in Comfort: Air NZ Unveils Skynest Bunk Beds for Economy Passengers
In a move that's set to revolutionize long-haul travel, Air New Zealand has announced the launch of its innovative Skynest bunk bed system for economy class passengers on flights between Auckland and New York. Scheduled to debut in late 2026, these full-length, lie-flat sleeping pods will offer a much-needed respite for weary travelers on the ultra-long-haul journey.
The airline has crammed six of these Skynest pods into the economy cabin of its new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, providing a unique sleeping experience that the company claims is a world-first. Each pod will be outfitted with fresh bedding, a privacy curtain, ambient lighting, and a kit containing essential travel accessories like eye masks, skincare products, earplugs, and socks.
