Former Minister: Cheshire Police Failed in Lucy Letby Case

Conservative ex-cabinet minister David Davis says police made 'egregious' mistakes in investigation of nurse convicted of murdering babies.
Conservative former cabinet minister David Davis has criticized the Cheshire police force for making egregious failures in their investigation of Lucy Letby, the nurse convicted of murdering seven babies. Speaking in parliament, Davis said the police did not follow official guidance or best professional practice, failing to appoint appropriate medical and statistics experts and pursue all possible lines of inquiry into the deaths and collapses on the failing neonatal unit of the Countess of Chester hospital in 2015-2016.
Davis argued that Letby has suffered a miscarriage of justice, suggesting the police force's shoddy investigation may have contributed to her conviction. He claimed Cheshire police failed to thoroughly examine all the evidence and potential causes for the tragic incidents on the neonatal unit.
