French Widow Detained by ICE, Sparking International Outcry

The French government is demanding the release of an 86-year-old French widow detained by U.S. immigration authorities after overstaying her visa.
The French government is pressing the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to release Marie-Therese Ross, an 86-year-old French widow of a military veteran, from immigration custody after she was detained earlier this month.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents detained Ross in Alabama on April 1 after she overstayed her 90-day visa, according to DHS. Ross is now being held at a federal immigration detention facility in Louisiana.
The detention of the elderly French citizen has sparked an international outcry, with the French government denouncing the move and demanding her immediate release. France's Foreign Ministry has stated that it is closely monitoring the situation and is in contact with U.S. authorities to secure Ross's freedom.
