Fuel Prices Surge Ahead of Holiday Weekend

Motorists face steep petrol costs as conflict in the Middle East drives up fuel prices for the Easter break, warns the RAC.
As the Easter holiday approaches, motorists across the UK are bracing for sticker shock at the petrol pumps. For the first time in nearly two years, the average price of petrol has risen above 150 pence per litre, putting a major strain on household budgets already under pressure from rising costs of living.
The conflict in the Middle East, particularly the ongoing tensions between Russia and Ukraine, has been a key driver behind the surge in fuel prices. Uncertainty and supply chain disruptions in the global oil markets have sent crude oil prices soaring, which is then passed on to consumers at the pump.
According to the RAC, a leading British automotive services company, the average price of unleaded petrol hit 152.59 pence per litre on Sunday, marking the first time it has exceeded 150 pence since September 2013. Diesel prices have also risen sharply, reaching an average of 156.27 pence per litre.
