Gambling Platform Users Threaten Israeli Journalist Over Missile Strike Story

An Israeli journalist faced threats from Polymarket users after a routine missile strike report became the focus of a high-stakes $23M wager on the platform.
An Israeli journalist named Emanuel Fabian received threatening messages from users of the online prediction platform Polymarket after one of his routine reports on a minor missile strike near Jerusalem suddenly became the focus of an unresolved bet with $23 million at stake.
The bet was related to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, and when Fabian's report did not align with the outcome that some Polymarket users had wagered on, they lashed out at the journalist. One message told Fabian, "After you make us lose $900,000 we will invest no less than that to finish you."
Fabian's original report was a straightforward account of a minor missile strike, but the high-stakes nature of the Polymarket wager transformed it into a focal point for angry gamblers who stood to lose substantial sums of money. The journalist found himself at the center of a dispute he had no part in creating, simply due to the nature of his work reporting the news.
