As the world closely monitors the escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, a new survey has revealed that three-quarters of Germans are concerned about the prospect of a new wave of refugees fleeing a potential conflict in Iran. This apprehension comes at a time when Germany is still grappling with the impact of the previous refugee crisis that saw hundreds of thousands of people seeking asylum in the country.
The survey, conducted by the Civey research institute on behalf of the Funke Media Group, found that 74% of respondents. This sentiment cuts across political lines, with 82% of supporters of the center-right Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party expressing similar worries.
