Global Rallies Denounce Israeli Occupation on Annual al-Quds Day

Thousands march worldwide in solidarity with Palestine, protesting Israeli occupation and US foreign policy on al-Quds Day.
Protesters across the globe took to the streets on al-Quds Day, an annual event held on the last Friday of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, to voice their opposition to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and show solidarity with the Palestinian people. Despite ongoing conflicts and challenges, the marches saw large turnouts in many cities, including the capital of Iran, Tehran, where thousands gathered to denounce the decades-long Israeli occupation.
Al-Quds Day was first instituted by the late Iranian revolutionary leader Ayatollah Khomeini in 1979 to express support for the Palestinian cause and call for the liberation of Jerusalem, known in Arabic as al-Quds. The day has since become a focal point for anti-Israel sentiment in the Muslim world and beyond, with rallies taking place in countries from Pakistan to Lebanon to Malaysia.
