Heroic Captain's Grave Uncovered After Over a Century in Belgium

The long-lost resting place of a brave British officer who fell during World War I's Second Battle of Ypres has finally been identified over a century later in Belgium.
Captain John Russell Pound, who was attached to the 2nd Battalion The King's Shropshire Light Infantry, has had his grave identified in Belgium more than 110 years after he was killed during the Second Battle of Ypres. The discovery of this heroic soldier's final resting place is a poignant reminder of the immense sacrifices made by British forces during the First World War.
Capt. Pound was just one of many brave men who lost their lives in the fierce fighting that took place around the Belgian town of Ypres in the spring of 1915. The Second Battle of Ypres saw the first use of chemical weapons on the Western Front, with the German army deploying chlorine gas against Allied troops, causing immense suffering and loss of life.
