Tehran's historic Golestan Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site, has sustained major damage after US-Israeli strikes on the Iranian capital. The iconic palace, which dates back to the late 18th century and is a centerpiece of Iran's cultural heritage, was hit by multiple missiles and bombs during the recent aerial assault.
According to eyewitness accounts and initial assessments, several of the palace's ornate structures, including the iconic Talar-e Salam (Hall of Peace) and Talar-e Ayeneh (Hall of Mirrors), have been severely damaged or destroyed. Priceless artworks, antique furnishings, and historic artifacts housed within the palace are also believed to have been lost or irreparably harmed.
Golestan Palace is considered one of the finest examples of Persian architecture and design, blending Qajar-era influences with elements of Safavid and Zand styles. The complex, which includes multiple museums and gardens, has long been a source of national pride for Iranians and a popular tourist destination.
