ICE Deported Hundreds of DACA Recipients Under Trump: Agency Head

New data reveals ICE deported 174 DACA recipients and arrested 270 more during the first 9 months of Trump's second term, raising concerns about the program's future.
ICE, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, deported 174 people who were renewing their protections from deportation under the DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) program from January through September 2025, according to a letter from the agency's acting director, Todd Lyons, reviewed by The Guardian.
The letter, sent to Illinois congressional representative Delia Ramirez, also confirmed that a total of 270 DACA recipients were arrested during that same timeframe, over the first nine months of Donald Trump's second presidency.
