Iconic Perfumer Jo Malone Faces Lawsuit Over Zara Fragrance Collab

Estée Lauder sues Jo Malone for over £200,000 in damages, claiming her Zara fragrance line infringes on her own brand's trademarks.
Jo Malone, the renowned British perfume entrepreneur, has expressed her surprise and sadness after being sued for over £200,000 in damages by Estée Lauder Companies. The cosmetics giant, which owns the Jo Malone London brand, claims that Malone's collaboration with fashion retailer Zara on a line of fragrances has breached their long-standing naming agreement.
The legal dispute emerged last month when Estée Lauder, headquartered in New York, filed a lawsuit alleging that Malone's use of her own name on the Zara fragrances infringes on the trademarks of the Jo Malone London brand. The Jo Malone London brand, which Malone sold to Estée Lauder in 1999, has become a globally recognized leader in the luxury fragrance market.
