New Delhi - In a move to ease the burden on consumers, the Indian government has announced a reduction in fuel taxes. This comes as the country, the world's third-biggest crude importer, grapples with supply shortages stemming from the ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated that the government has cut the excise duty on petrol by 5 rupees per liter and on diesel by 10 rupees per liter. This reduction in taxes is expected to provide some relief to the public, who have been dealing with rising fuel prices in recent weeks.
