The document indicates that Instagram head Adam Mosseri was aware of issues with direct messages (DMs) as early as 2018, yet the company failed to roll out key features like a nudity filter for minors until 2024.
The email chain presented in the court filing shows that Instagram leadership was cognizant of the risks young users faced on the platform, including the circulation of unwanted nude images. However, the tech giant seemingly prioritized other product initiatives over quickly implementing much-needed safety measures.
