Intrepid Treasure Hunter Emerges From Prison, Defiant in Face of Lost Gold

After refusing to disclose the location of a historic gold treasure, a renowned treasure hunter is released from prison, sparking renewed interest in the elusive bounty.
Thomas G. Thompson, the intrepid treasure hunter who discovered the long-lost S.S. Central America, a 19th-century steamship laden with a fortune in California gold, has been released from federal prison after serving a sentence for refusing to reveal the whereabouts of the coveted treasure trove.
The S.S. Central America, which sank in 1857, was carrying tons of gold coins, bars, and nuggets when it went down, and Thompson's team of deep-sea explorers located the wreckage in 1988, recovering a significant portion of the precious cargo. However, the full extent of the haul has remained a closely guarded secret, with Thompson steadfastly refusing to disclose the precise location of the remaining gold.
