Airlines around the world have grounded flights and issued travel warnings in the wake of Iran's missile strikes on military bases in Iraq housing US troops. British Airways (BA) and Virgin Atlantic are among the major carriers to suspend services to the Middle East, while airspaces over Iran, Israel, Iraq, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Syria and the UAE remain closed.
The partial closure of Saudi Arabian airspace has also impacted flights, while Jordanian and Lebanese airspace remains in operation. The sweeping airspace restrictions come as the region braces for potential further escalation of the conflict between Iran and the United States.
