Iran Eager for Nuclear Deal, But Fearful of Retaliation, Claims Trump
Former US President Donald Trump asserts that Iranian leaders are eager to reach a nuclear deal with the US, but are hesitant to admit it publicly due to fear of potential retaliation.
Former US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iranian leaders are eager to negotiate a nuclear deal with the United States, but are afraid to publicly acknowledge their willingness due to fear of retaliation.
In a recent statement, Trump said that the Iranian government is "negotiating with us but they're afraid to say it". He further asserted that the Iranian leaders "want a deal so badly", but are hesitant to express their desire openly.
Trump's comments come at a time when the ongoing negotiations between Iran and world powers, including the US, have faced challenges. The talks aim to revive the 2015 nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which the US unilaterally abandoned in 2018 under the Trump administration.
