Iran Prepares for Transition After Khamenei's Assassination

Iran's security chief Larijani vows to swiftly form an interim council to guide the country through a critical leadership transition following the killing of Supreme Leader Khamenei.
In the wake of the shocking assassination of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the country's security chief has pledged to swiftly establish an interim governing council to oversee the transition of power. Ali Larijani, the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, made the announcement just hours after the news of Khamenei's death rocked the nation.
"We understand the gravity of this moment and the need for a stable and orderly transition," Larijani stated in a televised address. "To that end, we will form an interim council comprised of senior political, religious, and military leaders to guide the country through this critical period." Larijani emphasized that the provisional council would work to maintain national unity and ensure a peaceful transfer of authority.
