Iran Rejects Trump's Claims of Seeking Peace Talks

Iran's Revolutionary Guard slams Trump as a 'deceitful American president', accusing him of contradictory behavior amid rising tensions.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard has strongly rejected claims by US President Donald Trump that Iran is seeking to engage in peace talks, calling his statements 'fake news'. In a scathing rebuke, the Revolutionary Guard accused Trump of 'contradictory behaviour' and described him as a 'deceitful American president'.
The back-and-forth rhetoric comes amidst heightened tensions between the two countries, with the US recently imposing new sanctions on Iran and dispatching additional military forces to the Middle East. Iran has responded by threatening to breach the 2015 nuclear deal, which the US withdrew from last year.
Speaking to reporters, a spokesman for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard said, 'The deceitful American president claims that Iran wants to have negotiations, but this is nothing more than the rhetoric of deceit and falsehood.' The spokesman went on to accuse Trump of 'contradictory behaviour' and 'maximum pressure' tactics that have led to a 'collapse of trust' between the two nations.

Zarif reportedly said, 'The US president's claim that Iran wants to have talks is nothing more than a lie and deception.'
The war of words between the US and Iran shows no signs of abating, with both sides accusing the other of provocative actions. Analysts warn that the 'maximum pressure' strategy employed by the Trump administration could escalate tensions and increase the risk of a direct military confrontation.

However, with the US and Iran seemingly entrenched in their respective positions, the path to de-escalation remains uncertain.
